The Potential of Our Talent Acquisition Community: Building a More Diverse Workforce Together

As leaders in the HR and Talent Acquisition (TA) space, we’re adept at building connections. However, oftentimes we prioritize connections with candidates, colleagues, and our internal stakeholders. With little energy left, we may neglect to build connections with our fellow practitioners. To succeed in the ever-evolving landscape of talent acquisition and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), we must prioritize these bonds. We must prioritize our talent acquisition community.

At Datapeople, we are committed to fostering a community of TA and DEI leaders. Leaders dedicated to building a more inclusive and impactful workforce. We appreciate the enormity of the challenge. We too struggle with all-too-common challenges like unconscious bias and a rapidly changing talent landscape. Yet we’re confident that a better future is achievable by investing in a strong practitioner community. Alone, our impacts will be isolated; together we will create lasting change.

Seamless learning and up-skilling

The digital age offers a wealth of opportunities to connect and learn. Online communities, LinkedIn forums, and digital mentorship programs offer digital connections. These digital forums can be ideal to share best practices, address common roadblocks, and continuously up-skill.

Datapeople is proud to contribute to talent acquisition’s digital community ecosystem in 2 meaningful ways.

  1. Datapeople University offers self-led knowledge-powered programs that go far beyond just training to use our platform. Certifications in topics like data-driven recruiting and effective job posts equip practitioners with strategic skills and deep industry insights. Capabilities that will pay dividends today and well into the future.
  2. The Datapeople Smart Editor provides market and job-specific proactive nudges. In a seamless way, our editor illuminates smart adjustments such as replacing soft skills. This not only helps create effective job posts quickly but also provides in-context up-skilling. These hidden training opportunities build habits that improve outcomes immediately and build a foundation for future hiring success.

In-person connections

While digital communities and learning experiences are invaluable, there’s no substitute for the power of in-person connection. Bringing leaders together for intimate gatherings, workshops, or conferences allows for deeper, more meaningful relationships to form. Additionally, these experiences provide more nuanced explorations of our unique insights, challenges, and experiences.

Increasingly, many in TA and DEI are re-evaluating the value of larger conferences. Their increased cost and greater focus on pushing vendor products have many opting out. Instead, they are choosing to prioritize more intimate experiences. Datapeople is proud to have hosted such an event in New York City. We welcomed TA and DEI leaders from companies ranging from technology to advertising to medical devices and everything in between. This small, curated gathering fostered candid sharing in a space built on mutual trust and confidentiality. This allowed our participants to engage in meaningful conversations, draw inspiration from diverse perspectives, and rally around shared challenges.

Collective success requires investments in community

The journey towards a diverse workforce can be daunting. I am confident it will be more easily accomplished by embracing the power of our TA/DEI practitioner community. Investing in both online and offline engagement, we will find the inspiration, challenge, and support we need to succeed.

Together, we will build a vibrant community of Talent Acquisition and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion champions. Champions dedicated to creating a workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of our society. This is not just the right thing to do – it’s the key to unlocking the full potential.
